Angel Service Dogs

Sydney Fitzjarrell was diagnosed at the age of 20 months with a life threatening allergy to peanuts. Her parents did not previously realize that in moments they could have lost their daughter. Sydney must ALWAYS carry two epinephrine auto injectors with her as a life-saving measure in case she comes in contact with peanut protein. The constant risk of a fatal reaction impacts Sydney’s daily life and has prevented her from participating in many activities. The minute Sydney steps out of her home, she is at extremely high risk from simply shaking your hand, receiving a hug or a kiss, picking up another child’s pencil, giving a friend a high five, or just being herself--a child who wants to play. Sincerely,
At 24 months, Sydney was diagnosed by Vanderbilt specialists with moderate autism. She has spent two and a half years in intensive therapy to manage this condition, and will need therapy for the rest of her life. As a result of early intervention, she has experienced new freedoms as she grows. Now, her freedom is restricted not only by the peanut protein allergy, but five newly discovered severe nut allergies, which is why Sydney has been chosen by Angel Service Dogs to receive Charlie, an Allergy Alert Dog. Charlie will receive his training with Angel Service Dogs in Colorado, as seen on the Today Show and the CBS Channel 2 News.
With your help, Charlie (or one of his companions) will be trained to specifically assist Sydney's unique needs. This amazing dog will detect trace amounts of nut allergens in the environment (in both edible and non-edible items and form), alert Sydney if any are found, and carry Sydney’s emergency medication. The list of tasks Charlie will be able to do is endless. Charlie is a certified service dog who will be allowed in all public places. He will be her guardian. With Charlie by her side, Sydney will have a life-changing freedom.
We are asking for donations to provide veterinary care and subsequent service dogs for Sydney that she will need throughout her life. Simply click on the "Donate" button above or send donations to the account listed below.
Thank you in advance for your generosity. All donations are greatly appreciated.
The freedom Sydney will receive would not be possible without your help and the Mers family, founders of Angel Service Dogs (www.angelservicedogs.com).
